I couldn't help the other day but notice all the amazing LCD HDTVs that were being displayed at my local stores. I could not help but be impressed with the vast array of high definition pictures I was presented with. The quality of LCD TVs is now simply amazing with the latest advances in technology bringing in wider screens and greater resolutions. There was a time when an LCD HDTV with all the features was considered a luxury item but not any more. Let's have a look at what you can get for your money these days.

I have said that I was surprised at how much better these LCD TVs are compared to the TVs that were around only 2 or 3 years ago. The overall dimensions are smaller and thinner, but the electronics that goes into them continues to get more complex. With so many manufacturers, styles and sizes, it can be daunting to choose the best one to get. Certainly when you are faced with a vast array of screens in a store it can be difficult. You do after all want to make sure you get the best possible value for your hard earned money.

The first factor to consider is the size. The screen size is the diagonal measurement from top corner to the opposite bottom corner in inches. The size you choose should primarily be chosen according to the distance from the TV that you will be watching from. Your budget will also determine this. The most popular models are around the 46-inch mark as these are ideal when you are anything from 4 to 12 feet or so away from the screen. Most LCD HDTVs can be wall mounted but it is worth checking this. Being able to mount the TV on the wall is a great way to save space although many people like to use the stand or cabinet to hold Dvds.

You ought to be buying a 120Hz and 1080p LCD TV. These are the refresh rate and the resolution respectively. At the high end, (60 to 65 inch), I would certainly recommend the Sharp Quad Pixel LC-60LE810UN 60-inch and the Panasonic TC-P65S2 65-inch.

Whichever model you choose, while quality and the number of features has increased, prices have still come down and now is the best time ever for purchasing a high quality LCD TV.
