Imitrex (Sumatriptan) drug is used for headache. This medication narrows down the blood vessels of the brain. These medications only cure the pain of the head that has already started. This medication does not help in preventing the number of attack caused in the head.

Generic Imitrex medication is available in the form of tablet and nasal spray. The quantity of Imitrex medication should not be taken more than 200mg tablet in a day (24 hours) or take the drug as per the dosage and frequency suggested by the doctor. This medicine is used to treat multiple disorders, do not use it without consulting your doctor first. The patient should check the direction given on the label of the medication for using Imitrex Nasal Spray. Nasal Spray should not be used for than 40mg in a day (24 hours). Women who is pregnant, nursing child or want to become pregnant should discuss with the doctor before using this medication for it is not properly conformed whether or not harm the unborn fetus, harm the nursing child or passes into the milk of the breast. Patients having a problem of epilepsy, hypertension, liver and kidney disorder should consult the medical specialist for there might of adjustment in the dosage.
