Immigration Can Be Tricky, Get An Attorney

Several years ago my sister was a teenager and started dating

. She dated several different guys, but when she was twenty two she ended up meeting a guy that was from Brazil. They dated for quite awhile and then they ended up getting engaged. It was an exciting time for them, but they were facing several different loops that they had to jump through. He hadn't gotten his green card and was not a US citizen.

My sister said that they didn't have a lot of money so they were trying to work with immigrations by themselves and not hire an attorney to help them. She said that you would be surprised by all of the questions they ask you when you are marrying someone that isn't a US citizen. She said it was very difficult and almost kind of scary. They were able to get married, but the process was just beginning for them and working towards him becoming a US citizen.

I don't know all of the process that they went through, but one thing that is for sure is it was a very long process and it got to a point that they had to hire an attorney that specialized in immigration to help them. She said that they knew all of the steps that had to be taken and walked them through step by step. The other thing she said was if they would have gotten an attorney sooner the process could have been quicker, because they knew all of the things that had to be done and they didn't have to research it.

We were talking about it the other day and how things have gotten tense as far as illegal immigrants and that the laws are getting tougher for them to get their visas or become citizens. She is glad that they went through the process they did when they did and that they got the help they needed.

It can definitely be tricky since some are trying to trick the system, but there are those that truly do fall in love and want to be here and be married raising a family. With all of these things in mind it is critical that you take the right steps and do things for the right reasons so that you can be confident that you will be protected. Probably the smartest thing to do is get an attorney that can help protect you.
