In the through-hole construction, the component leads are inserted in the holes while in the surface-mount construction, the components are situated onto the pads located on the external surface of PCB. Both constructions have component leads which are mechanically as well as electrically to the board through a metal solder which has melted.

Both these constructions must be carries out because through-hole mounting can provide more strength for the electronic components which are likely to go through some physical stress, if you know that PCB is not going to go through any physical stress then surface-mout techniques are essential as they take less space on the board.

There are various soldering methods which are used to connect the PCB components. Expert technicians have the ability to solder the minute parts by hand under the microscopes and for the production of high volume machines are used for soldering. PCB boards are comprised of highly advanced chips as well as other essential electronic applications which are placed on a slim plate of functioning.
