Importance of Ignorance

Ignorance is the word closely associated with laziness and carelessness but if used properly

, it can serve a well set life. Normally we are made to ignore things that are not in our control. For example if mindless boys flirt with girls in cheap way, girls have to ignore them anyways or if someone plays a bad prank with you, you have to ignore and so on...but do we use this power with our own will, perhaps not. Let me try to explain what I think on this. We come across many small and big incidences in our daily life in which few we like and other we don't. This is still fine but few incidences affect our mental status. They send us in a bad mood instantly more than often. For example if you love someone and in return, they simply don't and on this, they repeatedly do those things in front of you that hurt you, you get hurt every time. Since you love the person, you don't want to ignore and pay attention every single time, but you end up with a hurt heart. In such a situation, ignorance works wonders. Paying attention to the situation or person that hurts can be replaced with ignorance. This needs not be rude one. Politely divert your way to make sure that you don't get hurt. For example if you feel isolated when in company of a group or set of friends, humbly turn down their invitation and at the same time, get yourself into some activity that does not remind you of a social meeting you just ignored. This is quite possible that your friends, who don't value you, miss you out and pay more attention towards you next time. Remember, this does not mean that you don't care for the situation or person but at the same time, its only your duty to keep yourself happy. A happy you is not a selfishness but a service to others as well who really care for you. At times, we pay extra attention to someone and as matter of human nature, they take us for granted and we feel bad. People also use the ignorance to show off importance. This is not that bad but as they say, everything is good if in limit. All this does not mean that paying attention is a symbol of weakness. You pay attention when it matters to you but again a constraint of limit needs to be imposed here. Most of the times, we also pay attention to trivial things that make no or very little impact on our life. For example, if a prankster boy took a sharp over take and left you bewildered for few seconds, what you do is start cursing him, then to the entire generation of youngsters then to their atmosphere and finally parents. What happened was a simple display of ill manners of driving on road. And that incidence surpassed with the speed of that guy who disturbed you but you later improvised it to hurt yourself and paid at least few minutes. Do you think that guy deserved your important and priceless time? On the other hand, if you had ignored that at the same instance, situation would have remained the same but you could have saved our mood from turning bad. So next time when you confront with any such situation, analyze and ask yourself, whether it deserve my attention or ignorance. Happy Living Prashant Shrivastava prashant@friendstime.com
