- There are individual personality traits, particularly in people who have a tendency to criticize, sulk, or people who are pessimistic about just about everything in life, also tend to precipitate depression
- Some types of depression are induced by drugs like tranquilizers and sedatives. Such drugs produce some calming effect that will depress some particular body function and several organic activities leading to bouts of depression. - Alcohol abuse or excessive use of alcoholic beverages can also lead to depression. This is because alcohol alters the chemistry of the brain which then increases an individual's predisposition to this illness of depression. On the contrary, if alcohol is taken in tiny bits, it can lift boost an individual's mood significantly.
