The Pandrol Fastclip rail fastening system has been developed in response to the
growing need by contractors and rail operators for efficient track installation and more importantly to reduce maintenance costs. Sleepers are delivered to the track site with all components pre-assembled and locked together with the Fastclip. Once the rails are threaded the Fastclips are driven forward onto the rail base.
When using the Fastclip, it is important the following settings are followed:
Adjust for rail inclination
When a Clip Driver is delivered, it is set for 1:20 rail inclination. If the machine is going to be run on different inclination than 1:20 the tools must be adjusted. By loosening the four bolts the wedge can be changed. If the tools are not set up properly there is a risk that the tools and sleepers will get damaged.
Adjust the height of the tools
Another important setting is the height of the tools. The clipping arm needs to be correctly adjusted in relation to the shoulder. This is done by using the adjustment screw.
Adjust the clipping tools
To ensure that the clips are properly installed, the clipping tools must be set. To adjust the clipping tools:
1.Remove any shims that are mounted behind the clipping pads on the tool.
2.Activate the clipping tool with the button on the joystick and move the Clip Driver slowly so that the clipping pads gets in line with the clip on the sleeper.
3.In order not to damage the clip, shoulder or sleepers, the gap between the top of the shoulder and the bottom of the clipping pad should be 2 mm.
4.Install the first four Fastclip (one sleeper totally).
5.Check that the Fastclip is correctly installed according to the position specified by Pandrol.
6.If the clip is not pressed far enough; place spacers behind the pads on both of the tools and then press the clips into the right position. Check once more the height in relation to the sleeper.
7.Check that the installed Fastclip has no damage to either the clip or insulator.
