Every ladys favourite footwear option once the cold weather sets in is the boot

. It is tough to keep looking sleek and fashionable whilst trudging through the rain and snow during the colder months, but with a beautiful pair of new boots this can be achieved! Like all shoes there are hundreds of varieties available to the modern day shopper. Repeated classics with new twists and new options to follow are some of this years fashion trends, and the essence of fashion is change and it is this that keeps us shopping season after season, buying the newest designs to update our wardrobe.

Lets begin by looking at the styles of boots available. Ankle, knee high, mid-calf, over the knee, shoe boots and wellington boots. These are just some of the varieties in shops all over the UK and all come in varying heel height; flat, kitten heel, wedge or stiletto. The Chelsea boot is a type of ankle boot which is tight fitting and was originally associated with horse riding, with the most notable feature of the Chelsea boot is its elastic siding.

Cowboy boots are a specific style of riding boot that were historically worn by cowboys. They tend to have a high heel and a rounded pointed toe. Traditionally they were made from cowhide leather but are also sometimes made from exotic skins such as alligator, snake or ostrich, although nowadays you can also get them in synthetic materials.

The Ugg Boot is a unisex style of sheepskin boot. These are some of the warmest and softest boots around, made of sheepskin on the inside with a tanned outer surface. If worn without socks they should keep your feet warm when its cold and cool when its warm. Uggs originated in Australia where they were originally used by sheep farmers and then surfers due to their ability to keep your feet at a constant temperature. You can now get many Ugg look-a-like boots if you dont fancy forking out the couple of hundred pounds you will need to get yourself a genuine pair.

The Wellington boot became a fashionable style emulated by the British aristocracy in the early 19th century thanks to Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington. They are waterproof and are traditionally worn when walking through muddy terrain. The most fashionable brand of Wellingtons to date is the Hunter.

One of the biggest trends this winter is shearling and faux fur. To keep this trend looking chic just a touch of shearling at the ankle of a wedge boot is enough. This seasons take on shearling-lined boots are laced up to perfection and heavily clogged. On the catwalks this season, knee high boots were abundant. Cuban heels are also still around this season and their comfort factor a major plus. Also hitting the stores this year is the aptly named Flankle (flat, ankle) boot.
