Everybody needs a recovery plan if they have a computer

. It doesn't matter whether they only own one or hundreds, it is important to have everything backed up and secure. Depending on the problem, all you might have to do is to restore the hard drive to a previous time period. Other times you might have to install a replacement or a new server. Everything in your recovery plan needs to be laid out, including the SQL backup.

Your recovery plan doesn't have to remain the same over time. It can change according to your needs, which is why it is important to review it every now and then. You should lay out every detail, especially if a production server has to be rebuilt. This is where the SQL backup comes in handy, as it copies, restores, and monitors ancillary configuration items, logs, files, components, registry settings, directory structures, logins, data, and the overall well-being of the computer and applications. It is nice that the backup program often creates automated copies.

The SQL backup will take care of everything the normal backup database restore does. The problem is scripting the point-in-time recovery, as this can be difficult. Once it is done, the rest of the scripts will be added in. Thankfully, all you have to do with the backup is install the server-side, client side, components, and configuration of the system. You just have to tell the program what kind of backup you want, whether it is differential, full, transaction log, or a file group/file.

Another thing you should have lined up in your recovery plan is making sure all of the databases are backed up. You should also know when the backups happen, specifying an exact time schedule. Then choose the location of where it will all be saved.
