India Lost Gambhir And Sharma Final Test

India will be without opening drummer Gautam Gambhir and fast bowler Ishant Sharma in the second and final cricket Test against Australia.

Gambhir and Sharma was ruled out because of knee injuries in the first Test in Mohali which India won through a wicket in a exciting finish on Tuesday.

Sharma which has 3 rounds of 34 Australian, second, also reached 31 in a challenge under a stand of 81 winning combination for the ninth wicket VVS Laxman.

Laxman, who remained unbeaten on 73, despite suffering spasms, hopes to be ready for the second test which starts at Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore on voters reduced s Saturday.

India added drummer Abhinav Mukund and left-arm seam to Jaydev Unadkat team of 15 people, but none of them are likely to take the field. Opens Murali Vijay Gambhir will replace, while fast bowler Sreesanth Shanthakumaran favorite to take over from Sharma.

"Gautam Gambhir and Ishant Sharma have been ruled out of the Bangalore Test against Australia, on account of injuries to their right knees.

"The All-India Selection Committee has picked Abhinav Mukund and Jaydev Unadkat in their place. Mukund and Unadkat will be replaced in the squads for the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy by Harpreet Singh and Pankaj Singh respectively," BCCI Secretary N Srinivasan said in a statement.

While Mukund plays for India Red, Unadkat represents India Green in the tournament.

Gambhir, who scored 25 and 0 in the first Test against Australia, was hit in the knee while fielding at short leg yesterday when he took evasive action to save himself from a Michael Hussey sweep shot off Pragyan Ojha.

Ishant, on the other hand, had been carrying the injury in the match.
