Indian Ceos Sashay Down The Ramp For A Noble Cause

Indian CEOs are not known for their fashion sense

, so when we got to see some of the best names walking down the ramp, we almost passed out. Imagine Manish Kejriwal, the India head of Temasek Holdings Advisors donning a new dress and walking like a model on a ramp! We are sure that even he also never could have imagined doing this ever in his life. Similarly, CEO of FMCG major Hindustan Unilever - Nitin Paranjpe on a ramp seemed unbelievable but drew huge cheers from the crowd. So what were they really doing in a Fashion Show? Didn't they have important board meetings to attend or multi-billion takeovers to handle? Well, it was a very noble cause. The event was Toofles Style for Smiles.

So on Oct 3, 2010, 50 CEOs from the top companies of India stopped minting their millions of awhile and contributed to the event which was apart of Joy of Giving Week. Anu Aga, Sanjay Nayar, Anindo Mukherji of General Mills, Mukul Deoras, and Manisha Girotra of UBS Investment Bank were some of the CEOs who took part in the event to raise money for charity groups. For every top executive taking part, a generous amount of INR 1 lacs was donated to a noble cause.

ICICI Securities MD and CEO and the brains behind Toofles, Madhabi Puri-Buch later told the gathering that INR 1 lacs will be donated for each participating CEO to a NGO of their choice.

Though these business heads have more knowledge about the investment trends then Fashion Trends, they participated very sportingly for the cause. One of the scorchers was Meera Sanyal, country executive (India), The Royal Bank of Scotland who wore a beautiful tunic by Anamika Khanna. She admitted that though she loves fashion, most of the time she is the one who does the watching instead of being watch as was the case today. She was pleased that she was of any help to raise charity for NGO support which assists street children infected with HIV and drug addiction. She added that it was a cause very close to her heart.

Nitin Paranjpe looked elegant in a Collectibles suit by Richard James. Later, he revealed that he was taking part to support Asha Daan, a home for destitutes. Asha Daan means Home of Hope. This NGO has been supported by Hindustan Unilever for many years now. The home takes care of anyone in need for support and care.

The people who dressed up the honchos were ace designers from Indian fashion industry like Anamika Khanna, Narendra Kumar Ahmed and Wendell Rodricks.
