Hiring and employees are some of the hardest aspects of running a business

. There is the challenge of hiring the right people, offering them the right benefits and when they are already on-board there is the challenge to keep them happy and productive in the company. There is also the problem of ending up with inept employees. Sometimes applicants do so well in interviews and present impressive resumes but deliver less than stellar performances at work.

The problem is inept employees can really cause business owners a lot of stress.Poor workers can even mean a lot of missed opportunities in the workplace which can also mean losses for the business. The losses won't only come from missed opportunities but also from unfinished tasks. Efficiency and productivity are not the same as being busy. An employee may sit on his desk all day,barely taking cigarette, coffee or bathroom breaks but if that employee is not working his best or do not know how to do tasks efficiently then that employee may not deliver great results.

Getting the best output from employees require a mix of all the right elements in the workplace. There is the aspect of motivation, there is the office politics that the employer must deal with, and there is also training and development, and many other factors that employers must pay attention to. Sometimes employers wonder if keeping the employee count to a minimum is better.

What small business owners can consider doing is hiring virtual assistants. Virtual assistants are workers that perform tasks for companies in their own workplace. They are third-party contractors that are hired on a per-hour or per-project basis. They work in their own home offices, have their own equipment, take care of their own skills developments and trainings and simply deliver all the outputs that you require from them when you need them. You hire them when you need them and they perform tasks for you according to your instructions and requirements. You don't owe them anything more that the agreed payment for the projects (usually paid in advance by the client in full or in down-payment).


The employer is saved from the stress of hiring and maintaining employees. If the client is happy with the performance of the individual VA or the company, the client can keep rehiring the VA or lock the VA's services under a long-term contract. If the client finds that the performance of the is not up to par with their standards then the client is free to hire another VA. This set-up makes everything more advantageous for the client.
