A small business that is in need of a monochrome printer may want to take a look at the HP LaserJet 5000 printer

. It comes out of the box with the drivers ready to work with both Windows and Mac. It is also made for workgroup network printing. And with high-quality HP LaserJet 5000 Toner Cartridge included, you can print for ages without worrying about refills.

This printer is capable of huge output each month. It may not always be needed but it is good to know that when large amounts of promotional materials or letters need to go out that it can print up to 65,000 pages per month. They will come out with great quality with 1200 x 1200 dpi. It comes with a high yield HP Printer Toner Cartridge that prints 10,000 pages. Top speed printing is 16 ppm with just 12.2 seconds to start.

This printer comes with a standard paper tray that holds 250 sheets. The multipurpose tray will hold 100 sheets for a total capacity of 350 sheets of paper. The output trays have a 250 page capacity bin and a 50 page face up bin. That provides a total output capacity of 300 pages. It also has a sensor to stop printing when the output bin is full.

With the optional paper trays, the printer can hold up to 850 total pages. The printer can hold a total of four trays. For the business that does a lot of two sided printing, there is a duplexer available for purchase. If more storage is necessary, there are two more trays available with the capacity of 250 sheets and 500 sheets.

When new business cards are needed, these can be printed in house. This printer can work with regular paper up to card stock of 53 lbs. The card stock will need to go through the multipurpose tray since it has straight through printing. The size may be as large as 11 x 17 and as small as 3 x 5 inches. Besides business cards, it will also print labels and transparencies.

A large amount ofRAMavailable on a printer provides fast printing on a network. If the set up is for a workgroup and will minimize any possible printing delays and keep work moving smoothly. It comes with just 4MB ofRAMwhich is good for a small or home based business. For a workgroup, it will need more and there are three DIMM slots for adding memory. It may be added in increments of 4, 6, 8, 16, and 32 MB. The processor is 100MHz and is sufficient to facilitate smooth printing.

Two and 4 MB of flash memory DIMM is available as an accessory. Downloads using this function can be stored permanently on the printer, even when it is off. It is not very small but it will fit on a desktop, if necessary and weighs in at close to fifty pounds. It sits at 12.8 inches high, 19.1 inches wide and 19 inches long. There is an IEEE1284 parallel port and also a 232C serial port.
