But it should be done with care. Most of the carts run on battery and so it will be necessary to replace its battery sometime or the other. Here are some tips you have to keep in mind while replacing a Golf cart battery.

Tools required for replacing the battery:-

Wrench

Safety goggles

Petroleum jelly

Wire brush

Acid resistant hand gloves

First of all war the protective devices like the gloves and goggles. In most of the carts the battery is kept at the front or sometimes under the set of the cart. They may be six cell battery or single cell battery. Use the wrench to remove the terminals from the battery. Remove the negative terminal first and then the positive. Now lift the battery from its holder. Care should be taken as the acids inside the battery may leak and it is very corrosive.

The terminals of the clamp should be properly cleaned before fixing it on the new battery. The cable should be properly cleaned to avoid any residue. The presence of dirt or any type of residue can be dangerous as it can lead to a short circuit. Residues can form due to acid build up or reaction with other elements. Use the wire mesh to remove these residues. A mixture of distilled water and baking soda can also be used as it will neutralize the acidic property. After cleaning the cables, terminals and clamp, fix it to the new battery. Make sure to connect the positive terminal first and then the negative.

Now place the battery safely to its compartment. Make sure you fix all the screws, nuts and bolts of the battery holder using the wrench. Secure everything tightly. Applying a thin coat of petroleum jelly is really effective as it prevents the terminals and battery from corrosion. It will ensure a long battery life.
