These film cameras worked on batteries or cells which had to be replaced after a particular time when the available power was consumed by the camera.

Now, however, we have digital cameras. These are so widely used these days that they are considered to be the cameras of the 21st century. These digital cameras, unlike the previous film ones have multiple features. The moment we take a picture, we can immediately see the picture displayed on the tiny screen of the camera. Thereafter, if you think that the picture is not that good and that the next click could give you a better result, you just click another one right there!

Moreover, any of the pictures that you do not like can be deleted from the camera in order to get more space for storage. The storage of the digital camera thereby, depends on the memory card installed in the camera and it is up to you to buy a memory card of whatever storage you want. Thousands of pictures can be stored in the camera at one time if, you have a memory card with greater storage capacity. One can also view the saved pictures on the screen of the camera.

The digital camera is not only used for still photography but it can also record videos and sound. When taking a picture, you have an option to zoom and take a nearer image of what you intend to capture, by adjusting the lens. There are different modes in the camera as well and options such as to boost the colours or to take a black and white picture. All these features are already installed in the digital camera allowing you to take a picture in any of the modes available. One such feature in some particular cameras, is of a smile shutter .The camera would automatically take a picture when you smile.

The battery life of a digital camera is long lasting and the camera can also be recharged instead of replacing the battery. Now days, we have cyber shot cameras which can take a picture of a moving body and capture its movement as well. Picture can be edited in a digital camera by cropping a photo if you want to remove some one or something from a picture.

A data cable is provided with digital cameras through which you can directly transfer and see the pictures in your laptop or computer. Later you can print them as well to save a hard copy and remember the moments captured, for life.
