In college and campus, we observe many students worried about things such as accommodation, tuition classes, adjusting the budget, financial help, books and many such day to day needs. Most of them have to manage in very tight financial positions and hence do not have credit cards and other related things.

Hence they think that there is no need to worry about things like identity theft. But college identity theft is not for money, it is something more than that. Credit lending companies are many who give credit offer to students because they are always in need of immediate money. Imagine what will happen if your half filled form of credit giving company is acquired by such a thief. He can activate that credit plan and can have huge credit amounts o your name. This may cause a great mishap. Another such carelessly handled document which proved to be dangerous is the bank statements.

Students often make mistakes while referring to account statements and you may ask someone to help you out. But always ensure that the helper is bank staff person only. Other person may be a thief and can have wrong information filled by you and which he can gain profit afterwards.

Another such careless thing to do is about your college or institution identification number. Every student has his own identification number which has all personal information about the student. Such information is always needed by thieves. You have to be very careful while entering such number.

There could be thief watching you entering you the identification number and then he can operate your account on your behalf to get all your private information. Computers and laptops should also be very carefully handled as they store your information also about your educational history.
