Installing A Free Standing Awning

Every awning provides shade and a lot many features other than that

There is a special class of awnings known as the free standing Awning that is capable of providing much more shade than normal awnings and also offers many features that can never be provided by the attachable awnings. The canopy of free standing awnings is somewhat tilted from the front to the rear. This unique design allows the shade to be more than usual. The shade is even more during early mornings and late afternoons. If you want to enjoy the sky, at night or during mid-day, the umbrella can be retracted at a convenient place.

Almost every free standing awning is very durable. They are equipped with unique fabrics and an aluminum frame. The fastening of the regular awnings is not required in case of free standing awnings and hence there is a lot of difference between the sizes of the two. The regular awnings, when fastened over a window or a door, have their shades hanging over to provide the requisite shade. Although there is nothing wrong with this design, there is still a better awning available. Free standing awnings can be thought of as a hybrid product that is manufactured by many manufacturers that makes use of the designs of canopies and the awnings.

These awnings are some times known as unattached awnings because they do not require to be fixed to a certain place. Such awnings comprise of a fabric that is stretched over an aluminum frame. This frame is attached to poles at both the ends. The fabric of free standing awnings covers as much space as that of the regular awning but it can be moved around, wherever needed. The space covered is much more than a normal umbrella. In case of regular awnings, the arms need to be retracted for the shade. However, the free standing awnings just need a tilt of the fabric to get the shade in a particular position.

The frames can be made of either metal or vinyl. The only negative point associated with unattached awnings is that they are heavy and it is not easy to install them. Also, they require a steady base that is capable enough of holding it to its place.

Canopies and free standing awnings are pretty similar but not the same. The most prominent difference between the two is that the canopy rests on four legs while the awning requires only two. Canopies can be used to place tables and other furniture under it but the awnings are pretty much like an extended shade that does nothing but hang over a particular area. The canopy can be thought of as functional but the awning is considered as recreational.
