Copyright (c) 2010 Nadine DavisSome people decide not to buy vertical blinds because they don't want to pay someone to install them. The common misconception that vertical blinds are terribly difficult to install makes people reluctant to do it themselves. If you've been avoiding these convenient and attractive blinds because you don't want to install them yourself - and don't want to pay someone else to do it - you should look over the steps for installing them. You'll see that it's not as difficult as you may think.Steps for Installing Vertical Blinds.Unlike Roller Blinds, vertical blinds installation involves more than one or two steps. But, if you take your time and follow each step carefully, there is no reason to panic as you're blinds will be up in a jiffy.Gather Tools - In order to successfully install vertical blinds, you're going to have to have the right tools. At minimum, you are going to need a level, a drill, a screwdriver, a tape measure and a pencil. Depending on the blinds you have purchased, additional tools may be necessary; make sure to refer to the instructions that came with them to find out exactly what you'll need.Gather Materials - Sometimes, vertical blinds come with everything that you'll need in order to install them; other times, you have to collect various things on your own. You're going to need clips, ends, valance corners, the head rail, vanes, clips and brackets and screws. Make certain that you have everything you need easily accessible to ensure you're not running around from room to the other trying to find what you need during the installation process.Decide Where to Put Brackets - Take the head rail and decide where you want to place the brackets. They need to be evenly spaced and approximately 8 centimetres from the ends. Use an online resource to figure out how many brackets you will need.Mark the Position of the Head Rail - Locate the exact place on the wall where you want the head rail to be. Since you've marked the positions of the brackets on it, you should also mark their position on the wall.Screw Brackets into Wall - Use a drill bit to screw the brackets into the wall. Use nuts and bolts to attach the mounting clips to the brackets. The centre clip should be 4 centimetres from the wall.Snap On Head Rail - Without everything securely in place, snap the head rail on. To do that, just slide it onto the mounting brackets.Hang Blinds - Finally, you just need to snap each blind onto the inside of the head rail. This process should go quickly. That's all there is to it: You have successfully installed Vertical Blinds! Now you get to enjoy them.
