The mini-site means a small site or blog with about 5 pages, which is targeting to a narrow topic. When the used keywords are low competition keywords, the rankings will stay longer and do not need so much work.

These sites are relatively quick to build, so the risk is smaller, than with the bigger businesses. On the other hand, if the mini-site starts to succeed well, we can easily expand the content and to take new long tail keywords for the marketing.
