Internet Marketing News - Google Changes Its Look

If you're an Internet marketer and do anything with Google at all

, you've probably noticed that Google has changed then look of their search engine. Well, in this article, I'm going to, first of all, tell you what I think of it and then if I think it's going to make any significant difference to anybody whatsoever. You may or may not find this interesting reading.

Okay, let's start off with what's changed. Well, it's really something that you need a visual for to do it any real justice, but the best way to describe it is trying to squeeze ten pounds of ham into a five pound bag. The whole thing has been sort of compressed. Maybe they did this because of all the people out there with poor peripheral vision. All I know is what used to take up only two or three lines on my browser now takes up about six because of the way the columns have been redesigned.

In a word...I think it stinks. But what do I know? I think America Ferrera is hot. My apologies to Ugly Betty fans.

Forgetting about how the search engine looks, how do I think it's going to change searching itself? Well, I do think that it's going to focus more attention on organic searches, which is maybe what they want. I think it's going to hurt the PPC market slightly, but the only way to know for sure is to wait and see what happens.

However, will fewer people use the search engine because of the change? Unless you haven't noticed, Google really took the design from Bing. In fact, the design itself is kind of retro. Reminds me of some of the old search engines when I first started seven years ago. And I thought they looked like garbage.

Ultimately, Google is going to keep and eye on statistics and decide whether or not the new look stays or they go back to the old look. Personally, I think a good number of people, simply because they hate change, will abandon Google and move to another search engine. Some won't care. Others will reluctantly stay because they feel that Google will still give them the most relevant results. Most Internet marketers, if for no other reason that needing to keep their finger on the pulse of SEO, will stay with Google.

Me? I rely so little on the search engines for business that it doesn't matter to me one way or another. But as a consumer, I really don't like the new layout.
