The free gift. It always works wonders, doesn't? By bundling something up with your main product, you entice customers to make the purchase. After all, who could resist a freebie? We always see this tactic used in grocery store items- the free soap with a bottle of shampoo, the small cologne packaged together with a lotion, the pillow with a bed purchase.
On the net, we Internet marketers practice this too. Heck, we give free weekly newsletters, ebooks, club memberships, CDs and videos to those who buy from us. While we always look at the bright side of giving out bonuses (i.e., how these can encourage customers to buy our main offers), sometimes we forget to take into consideration the fact that the value of a product diminishes when bundled as free with another. Research has proven that customers will always look at freebies as inferior (why would it be given as free when it isn't?) and will even go through lengths to question what's wrong with the bonus.
If you really want to boost your sales through the roof, you must not only reveal the real value of your main item, but show your target audience the true value of your freebie as well. How do you do this? Instead of simply saying that you're giving away an exclusive membership to your "Get Rich Club" as part of a purchase, tell them the real worth of that membership and what they'll get out of it: "Whereas others pay $300 to become part of the Get Rich Club where you'll be given trainings, seminars, ebooks and guaranteed unlimited access to our online resources, we're giving this to you for FREE with this purchase." Marketing it this way increases the value of your main product so much more because the freebie also has inestimable worth.
Freebies have a great pull on customers. They motivate people to buy just by the sheer pleasure out of getting a little extra for their money. But you can let your freebies add extra value to your main offer by telling customers of its true value.
Tell them the significance of your free gift. Once they know that, they'll even be more compelled to buy your main product because in their minds, if something that is given free costs that much, imagine how much more valuable could the major offer be?
