Internet Regulation With Mobile Broadband

Freedom on the internet is mostly a good thing

. It gives people the freedom to share their ideas, information and data on a variety of subjects. A fisherman in Virginia can share his tips on what bait to catch when Rock Fish are in season. Websites are created for the sole purpose of allowing online users to communicate with others about a variety of topics. Relationship advice, travel tips, discussion boards, and funny jokes are all accessible from using mobile broadband. However, some exchange of information is considered dangerous. Governments are attempting to set up firewalls to block lucrative material such as child pornography and terrorist activity.

As the saying goes, there are always two sides to every argument. On the one hand, the internet was created as a free market, a place that was not necessarily controlled by borders and laws similar to those of nations and countries. But on the other hand, it should not become a place where people have the right to encourage terrorist activity or child pornographers have free reign to spread their material.

Creators and companies as part of the 4G network are coming up with ways to regulate internet activity. They still wish to allow people the freedom to transfer files and data, but not necessarily allow them to exchange illegal or potentially dangerous material.

The internet brings people, countries, and communities opportunities of trading and exchanging information by means not available two decades ago. In the past fifteen years, telecommunications has changed so drastically, that governments and regulations can hardly keep up. One way of controlling material read on the web, is for national institutes to monitor activity and regulate use. The Chinese government has installed what they call a great firewall which inflicts tight controls on internet sites available to the rest of the world. The government monitors traffic in addition to makes many sites and services unavailable. Other countries are starting to enforce similar regulations.

Companies providing mobile broadband have started to realize the necessity of implementing some restrictions regarding the internet. Although they are not nearly as restrictive as governments like China, Cuba, and Saudi Arabia who are continually tightening controls on what people see and do while using the internet, they are offering some control. Parents especially appreciate this measure, as more and more children are gaining access to the internet through their handheld device. While it is easier for parents to regulate and monitor the childs use on the home computer, a cell phone is much less accessible.

Depending on how much control you want to implement with your mobile broadband use, you can purchase different devices. Depending on the company you sign up with on your 4G network, you can have more or less restriction with online use. The future of the internet is unsure, as it is the future. However, it seems to be heading into the direction of more restriction, especially in consideration of policies of such countries as Australia and China. While they might be stopping such use of websites that instruct bomb making or illicit child pornography, there is also a downside. By regulating internet use, they are also restricting freedom of use of innovative sites that could help farmers produce better crops, information for researchers and scientists, and expanding the minds of their youth.
