It seems funny to me that this could be a topic of conversation. Only a few years ago this was not a big to do. People did not even think twice about running out to the store to get groceries or beauty products for their consumption. In this day and age, you do not even have to leave your house to get what you want. So now that you have all of these options available to you, what route will you take to fulfill your needs? Buying your products in person: The Benefits: - When shopping at a store, everything is right in front of you. If you are not quite sure what you want, you can browse to your hearts desire. Even though you can do this on the internet as well as in person, the physicality of the products is more apparent at a store. You can pick up the product, smell the product, and test the product. Also, there are people in store who can help you with your every need. The Downfalls: - You have to somehow get to the stores. A lot of us take this simple statement for granted. We have our cars or the use of our limbs while others may not be as lucky. It could be a lot easier for some to shop online than others. Also, at drug stores and grocery stores, the basics are whats available to you as the consumer. For specialty products, you need to find a specific store and you are not always guaranteed that what you want will be in stock. The biggest downfall of shopping in person has got to be the crowds and lack of privacy. For some people, there are just some things that you buy for your private consumption that should be kept private. Its our own prerogative to want our personal products without the embarrassment of people judging us. Buying your products online: The Benefits: -You can find just about anything on the internet. You are allowed to spend as much time as you would like searching for the perfect product. For those supposedly embarrassing products, like wrinkle cream for men or womens personal care products, you have full anonymity. Using the best products available for whatever condition you have without anyone knowing the truth. Also, learning about the product is so much easier. You have review sites, and blogs that will give you the insider information within seconds. The review sites are run by experts in their field whose job is to give advice to the online community. Blogs are the actual customers who go online to voice their opinions honestly. A little piece of advice; if there are customer reviews or opinions on any site, you are dealing with a true blue online website. The Downfalls: - You are not sure if you can trust who you are buying from online. This is actually a serious problem that a ton of people have come into contact with hackers and scammers portraying themselves as trustworthy online stores. The way to avoid a scam is to know the basics of online shopping and what a valid online company should have on their website. Do they go through a secure third party like pay pal? If yes, than there is no real direct link to your personal account and the company is truly selling you a product. -As for finding out information about a product, look at review sites. Take the skin care market for example. A very lucrative market for the image and health conscious, the skin care industry has blown up over the internet. Do you have wrinkles or acne, dry skin or oily skin? If you look online, thousands of products pop up offering you relief but who do you trust. As I said above, online stores that offer customer reviews are probably your best indication of a safe site. We are in a fast growing technological age were just about anything is possible. With the right information and knowledge of how to navigate your way through, technology is not a scary word anymore. The online world is the future.
