We have all heard about how amazing a mother's love is and this can be seen more evidently when it comes to Mother's Day. Did you ever notice how different the advertisements portray fathers when it comes to Father's Day? It is always about gadgets and tools while mothers get showered with flowers and food?
Although a mother's love is warm and assuring, there is something very different when it comes to a father's love. It brings with it that security and strength that complements a mother's love. Last time, it was the mother's duty to cook while fathers have to go out to work and bring back the bacon. These days, both husband and wife need to work in order to bring back the bacon with the rise in cost of living.
There is a saying that sons are closer to their mums while daughters are closer to their dads. I would like to personally suggest that both sons and daughters be close to both parents as each parent have a different role to play in the upbringing of their children.
And to raise successful kids, you will need both parents to work together by agreeing to spend quality time with your children when they are growing up. Parents, you have about 18 years the max before your kids fly out of the nest. So from the time you both choose to look for Irish christening outfits to the day when you attend your kid's graduation, make a choice to do it together as a family.
Fathers need to constantly choose to be a role model for their children. When I said that fathers need to be more involved, I am not just pointing out the fact you need to help with the grocery shopping and paying the bills.
