Is A Blogspot Blog With Google Worth The Risk If You Are Trying To Make Money?

When you see a domain url with blogspot in it you know you are on a blog hosted by Google

. There are risks to using this as a way to make money at home.

Let's go over a few of those in this article.

1. No control. This is the primary risk to using the free blogspot blogging platform.

Google is the boss of you. They can cancel your blog at anytime for any reason. They do not even have to notify you that you have been cancelled.

If you build a blog that is beginning to earn you income that income will be gone. Some people cannot live with this risk, knowing that every night when they go to sleep that could wake up with no blog anymore.

2. Free. You do not have to purchase a domain name for hosting for your blog. For people who are on a tight budget this is certainly an option worth considering.

3. Google Adsense. This is Google's pay per click affiliate program. If you currently are not set up with Google this is a fast way to get an account.

It's very easy to integrate ads into your blogspot blog. You don't need any technical knowledge so this is actually a strong positive.

4. Personal versus business blog. To me one of the primary benefits of using blogspot is for personal blogs.

In this case you are not going to worry about monetizing your blog at all. You have nothing at stake in terms of losing income when you blog this way strictly for personal reasons.

5. Add on blog. One thing I do like is setting up a blogspot blog and linking it to your primary website.

If you're hosting your website on another hosting company such as Host Gator, setting up a blogspot blog, and linking it from your homepage, can actually make sense.

This could provide some benefit to your primary home page because you get Google visiting your blogspot blog and then following the link back to your primary website.

6. Ease of use. Most blogging platforms are easy to use and blogspot is no different. Adding content, graphics, links to money sites, and so on, is very easy to do.

7. Content. This is where you really have to pay attention. Google doesn't want their servers clogged with duplicate content.

You have to be 100% confident that everything you have on your blog is not already duplicated online somewhere else. This is the number one reason your blog will be canceled.

There are many people on the Internet who swear by the blogspot platform. They have many blogs and have no problems with Google. There are also many other people such as myself who primarily use self hosted WordPress blogs as a way to make money.

If you want to go to bed every night knowing that you still are in control of your blog a blogspot blog is not the way to go. However, if you want a free blogging platform that's easy to use this might be an option for some of your blogs.
