The truth? Not only is credit repair legal...it's actually guaranteed by law. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) has been passed by Congress...and revised, re-enacted and re-calibrated by our elected representatives over and over again over the last 25 years for ONE reason: to give each and every one of us the legal right to challenge and dispute information on our credit files we DON'T feel is accurate.

Honestly? Don't' let anyone tell you otherwise...there is NOTHING illegal, immoral or unethical about credit repair...and the only ones who want you to believe that are those that want to see you STUCK with bad credit for a long time to come.

Does that mean that all credit repair strategies legal?

No, it doesn't. There are some exotic strategies that are NOT okay...and if something SOUNDS too good to be true, it probably is. As an example? Filing for a new social security number, file segregation strategies or anything that involves manipulating computer information from a far are NOT recommended...and can often get you into super hot water with people you DON'T want in your business. (hint...people with badges.) But short of doing anything that is obviously underhanded or unethical...there is NOTHING wrong with disputing information on your report that is negative, and requesting it's removal, EVEN if it was a bill you didn't pay, or a delinquency that is 90% accurate in it's detail. Why? Because the FCRA provides you the right to have a COMPLETELY accurate credit report, and often the smallest inaccuracies are responsible for removing the very WORST things on your report! (even if by and large...they are pretty much true)

The bottom line?

Credit repair is legal, ethical and 100% within your rights. If anyone tells you anything otherwise....they either AREN'T telling you the truth, don't know the facts, or have a reason for misrepresenting the facts. (no lie!)
