Is It Time To Remodel Your Kitchen?
Your kitchen is the light and life of your home
. That's where all the action happens, right? That is where your children often come to greet you when they're home from school; that is the place where you spend time cooking up your favorite dishes, and that is where the magic of the holidays comes to life as you make turkey, mashed potatoes, and Christmas cookies.
That is why it is so important to keep your kitchen updated and comfortable. How long has it been since you gave the heart of your home a complete makeover? I'm sure you have heard apartment renters or house hunters giggle over a decor that dates back at least three decades.
Let's hope it hasn't been that long, but if it's been more than seven or eight years since your kitchen had a facelift, then it's time to consider one.
First, you obviously want to decide on a design theme to inspire the decor. Some people have a difficult time selecting one idea, so visit local home improvement stores, tour your own home to what kind of atmosphere you have established, and even check out boutiques and antique shops.
I have known several individuals that were moved by a single thing wall paper, a shade of paint, or even a figurine. Be open to these kinds of discoveries, and don't go in a direction that doesn't thrill you.
If you need to replace any appliances dishwasher, oven, refrigerator, etc. then you might garner your inspiration from the color and style of the kitchen equipment that you like best.
My spouse and I have a difficult time keeping our kitchen consistently clean and orderly, so if you have a similar problem, you may want to go with a more contemporary look. Using a stainless steel sheet for your countertop will help create a streamlined appearance, and it's easy to clean!
Before you officially begin your remodel, you should plan things out. Think about what bothers you most about your current setup. For example, in my kitchen, my pots and pans, along with all of their lids, are stowed in a lower cabinet which makes them hard to access without bending over and rooting through all the metal.
If you have a similar inconvenience in your kitchen, you will want to find ways to reorganize your utensils. This might also include weeding out certain tools you don't use to create more space.
Hopefully these bits of advice will get you started on the road to remodeling. Be sure to consider your needs and your family's. It will definitely take some work to create the atmosphere you crave, but at least you now have some ideas.
