Is There A Difference Between Tanning Beds And Saunas?

There is no question about it but public information about tanning beds can be more than a bit complex

. This all depends on who is feeding you the information. For years we have been hearing that skin cancer can be caused by direct exposure to the sun light and now tanning lights. Then there are some people who now say that the lights on beds can even penetrate beneath your skin, and damage internal organs. What really are the facts? True, over exposure to the sun and or tanning lights is not a good thing. But the sun cannot be avoided and this is not the same as using saunas. Most of these beds will be around the above ground swimming pools.

It's ridiculous to say that the risks go as far as to damage internal organs. The human skin is in fact an organ and the light energy emitted from a tanning bed is not powerful enough to penetrate much beyond that. The eyes are the only internal organs that can be affected. Caution is given to those using tanning bed to wear protective covering for their eyes. The infrared saunas can actually be more harmful.

Another lie that has been spread is that about the risk of contacting STDs off of tanning bed. This is just but another myth like that which has circulated over years about public toilet seats. So there is really no reason to worry you because studies have shown that the microbes that cause STDs can't live outside the human body. The light and air will kill them pretty much on contact because they require a humid and warm environment without which they cannot survive. For those that are still not satisfied they can go ahead and ask the saloon attendants about their policies on disinfecting their beds after use. A good research will show you that you cannot contract STDs.

The fact is that your body will always need sunlight to produce certain vitamins and also to ward off depression. Although overdoing it will increase your risk factors which in turn may lead to conditions such as aging if you're not careful. Talk to one self-professed expert on the topic, and he or she will advise you that there is more than one substantial risk. So we can conclude and say that what it really boils down to is that, just like so many other things, too much of anything is poisonous so how you approach tanning would determine your risk level. It is best to do it in moderation and preferably jump into a swimming pool soon after.
