There can be confusion as to whether some places are a day spa or just a hair salon offering some of the same treatments as full fledged day spas. True day spas will have a clean, safe, calming and nurturing environment along with private treatment rooms for each client receiving a personal service.

Skin Care Treatments

Skin Care services includes facial services. Some types of facials at day spas include a basic facial, deep pore cleansing facial, oxygen facial and vitamin c facial. Other skin care treatments usually include peels. Each client should be able to use one of 3 types of peels: enzyme, Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA). Enzyme peels include pumpkin, papaya or pineapple fruit acids. Alpha hydroxy acid peels are lactic acid (good for dry skin) and glycolic acid (good for mature skin). BHA peels are best for oily skin and includes salicylic acid. Day spas usually have make-up consultations available too.
