It Is Time We Take Notice

The United States has done an excellent job on providing the best possible services to handicap individuals

. Through government and family assistance many of these individuals have been able to carry on their lives with very few limitations. With the development of the handicap van, handicap individuals are now experiencing more freedom then they ever have before.

We as a nation have also ensured that handicap individuals are given special consideration that allows them to carry out their day to day tasks as easily as possible. Through designated parking spots, requirements of handicap ramps at all public establishments and many other regulations, our country has made a concerted effort to ensure that our handicap citizens are able to succeed.

However, many countries have not followed our lead. For many handicap foreigners the idea of driving their own handicap van or being able to access many buildings without substantial assistance, is an ideal that appears well out of their reach.

As a result of these poor regulations, it has become more vital than ever to make these countries aware of our desire for equal opportunity for all.

Start with a Local Message

As with the case in many social movements the starting point has to be close to home. By building strength in numbers citizens can make drastic changes. Be sure to organize your efforts in an educated fashion. Begin by researching handicap laws in some other modernized countries to see if they mimic those enacted by the United State government. If there exists a lack of regulations such as government assistance for handicap individuals to purchase their own handicap van, make sure that these failures are well documented.

Follow Through With Correspondence

After certain regulations have been found draft a well crafted letter asking for an explanation on why the targeted country has failed to address the identified issue. Be sure to add the signatures of all participating members. This will show the government that the concern is not isolated and that many people are starting to take notice.

After the letter has been sent, be sure to follow up with a phone call or email. This will show that a concerted effort is being made to enact change.

There are many unjust circumstances which effect handicap individuals on a daily basis. It is our job, as citizens of this earth to have our voices heard when we have identified such injustice.
