In our current society, homosexuality is a large topic that is often held to be a wrongful act. We have made large strides with the suffrage and civil rights movements, but homosexuals are still looked at with great scorn. Because of this, it can be difficult to be a homosexual, especially in the south. There is truly nothing wrong with being a homosexual, and there are many people in the South Carolina area who deal with the persecutions of being gay.

One should not hide who they are, and they should take pride in their choices because just as what we do can define who we are, what we are will define what we do. The rights all Americans are given apply to everyone regardless of race, creed or sexual orientation. Homosexuals should not have to worry about ridicule or false allegations due to their sexual preferences, but the truth is that there are ignorant people who do things that are simply wrong and make zero sense. The good news is that there are communities and groups set up in the South Carolina area that direct themselves toward the support for individual rights of homosexuals and help in the process of finding a mate.

These communities are a place for homosexuals to not have to worry about the constant badgering they may deal with day in and day out. They are supportive of one's lifestyle choices because those that are involved in the community are also gay. It is a great way to find someone you can connect with, and find a grouping of people with like minds. Homosexuality is not wrong, it is misunderstood. Most Americans are beginning to realize that homosexuality is not the demonistic activity that it was said to be earlier in our history and by some today. Soon, the rights of homosexuals will be granted, and we will all realize there is nothing wrong with an alternate lifestyle choice.
