Items you cannot put in a Roll off Container
There are several reasons why certain rental companies do not allow specific items from being placed in a roll off container or more popularly known as a roll off dumpster. But before we go to the reasons, let me share with you what are these items. Wet paint, asbestos, propane tanks, fuels, batteries, tires, appliances such as TV and computer monitors, refrigerants A/C, dirt, rocks, household trash, railroad ties, concrete and large rocks.
Before I specified these items in my terms and conditions, I have been through a lot of trouble with people who rented my roll off container or roll off dumpster. I remembered the time when the economy is doing so well that everyone replaces their appliances every so often. Whenever there is a new model for a specific item such as TV or computer, people just go crazy replacing their current model. So the tendency is to collect old stuff and then when they need to move out or do some spring cleaning that is only the time they see that they have accumulated so much of these items. And because they are so used to renting a dumpster, they just dump all these things into the truck. Thanks to going green movement, people have become more conscious about collecting things. Recycling centers are such a gift because old things can now be made into something useful.
I also remembered the time when a certain construction company who hired me dumped so much paint and concrete on my roll off container or roll off dumpster. The paint stuck to my truck that the used to be clean and neat looking truck that I own has turned into a funky one. Paints are definitely a no no! The concrete that was dumped to my dumpster got stuck that a lot of the space was eaten up by it. It took a long while before I can use that dumpster. I made sure that it is sparkling clean again and all the space that is needed for the garbage is free of any concrete remnants.
Propane tanks, asbestos and batteries are all considered toxic wastes so these are definitely out. It's a good thing that in my many years of doing this business I have not encountered anyone who irresponsibly threw their toxic wastes to my dumpster. I guess the state has a very strict regulation about properly disposing such items.
But now that I have clearly specified items that cannot be placed or dumped on my roll off container or roll off dumpster for rent, people have become more responsible and conscious. I guess they are afraid to be slapped with penalty fee when they violate this section of my terms and conditions.
