Fake designer jewellery once owned by Jacqueline Kennedy exceeded expectations at

auction.The famous First Lady's triple-strand pearl necklace, which was valued at only a few hundred pounds, was expected to fetch in the region of 25,000 but eventually raised 51,600 when it went under the hammer at the Bonhams auction in Chichester.Two fake pearl necklaces worn by the 1960s fashion icon were sold for £36;,000, while imitation pearl and diamond ear clips also went for 15,600 at the auction in West Sussex.Bonham's jewellery expert Jean Ghika said that the inflated price was due to the fashion legacy of Jackie Kennedy, who was in the White House between 1961 and 1963."It's fair to say that 99.9 per cent of the value is because they belonged to Jackie Kennedy," she said.Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis became a symbol of fashion when she was married to former president John F. Kennedy (JFK) by often wearing designer jewellery by Jean Schlumberger and hoop earrings made by Van Cleef & Arpels.Clean suits, sleeveless A-line dresses and pillbox hats became synonymous with Jacqueline Kennedy during her time as First Lady with French-born American fashion designer and family friend Oleg Cassini acting as her primary designer.Items by Chanel, Givenchy and Dior were also regularly worn by Kennedy who would later marry Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis in 1968 following the assassination of JFK in 1963.Kennedy died in 1994 after a battle with cancer but would continue to influence the world of fashion with her own unique style.Handbag magazine said: "Jackie O (as she became affectionately known), never had a bad fashion day and never took a bad photo, which is why 15 years after her death she is still referred to as one of the most influential people in fashion."Hollywood actress Katie Holmes has been wearing replicas of Kennedy's iconic dresses and designer jewellery whilst playing the First Lady during the filming of a television mini-series.Pop star Jennifer Lopez recently asked her Twitter followers for advice regarding her collection of designer jewellery.J.
