Jewellery belonging to the Duchess of Windsor is due to go up for auction this November it has been announced

Items such as a very personal jewelled cross and a diamond bracelet created by Cartier are said to be among the collection which is scheduled to take place via Sotherby's this November.

The collection is set to raise a small fortune as lots of the pieces are valuable due to their composition as well as the history behind them.

A heavily personalised diamond bracelet with nine different Latin crosses is said to b the most interesting from a historical perspective. Each of the crosses illustrate a moment in the life and relationship of the duke and duchess. The sapphire cross is said to represent their wedding, a cross designed to symbolise the failed murder attempt of the duke in 1936 is includes, an emerald and diamond cross also features as well as the, 'appendectomy,' cross which symbolises the duchess's recovery from appendicitis.


There is also a beautiful brooch comprised of ruby, emeralds, citrine and diamonds and made by Cartier. The brooch has been described as being one of the most important brooches of the twentieth century as it is extremely unique and valuable.

A diamond and onyx panther bracelet created by Cariter is also included in the collection. The panther is said to be so detailed that it has visible muscles. Another unique and personal item is the gold cigarette case that has a map of Europe with favourite holiday destinations of the duke and duchess imprinted on it. There is also an inscription reading, 'hold tight.'

The identity of the owner of the collection is not going to be revealed by Sotherby's but whoever does own it is likely to make a tidy profit from the sale. The brooch was originally bought for 498,000 but is now expected to fetch around one million pounds. The cross bracelet is also expected to have risen in value from 235,000 to around 450,000.
