Jayde.com - Seo's Little Gem
When it comes to search engine optimization everyone is crazy for Google
. And as the world's most popular search engine, it's no surprise. But this might be...
Jayde.com, a search engine that's been around even longer than Google, is the world's most popular Business to Business search engine.
If you sell only to consumers, you probably don't care about getting in front of other businesses that could benefit from your goods and services. But think again; maybe you should. Business owners and employees are also consumers. In fact, at least ninety percent of all businesses in the world have an opportunity to serve the B2B market at some level. And most of the time it is quicker and easier than dealing with consumers and the profits are higher for just that reason.
So is Jayde worth your time? If you serve the B2B market then the answer is definitely yes. If you cater to the B2C market - or Business to Consumer - then take a minute and think about it. Chances are there is some aspect of your business that could appeal to another business. Here's an example (but if you don't want the story, jump to the end for easy how-to instructions to do SEO for Jayde.com)...
Last year I helped a one-person cake baking business get found on Google through an organic SEO program. She specialized in size sheet cakes (simple rectangular single-layer cakes giving about 20 servings.) Her average customer was the parent of a child who was about to have a birthday, Confirmation, graduation or Bar Mitzvah. The typical decorated cake sold for thirty-five dollars and most months she got about fifteen jobs/orders.
While doing her SEO I asked what kind of cakes she did for businesses and her response surprised me "Oh I could never do that . I just bake children's cakes." I asked her if she was willing to try an experiment and she agreed. She baked a beautiful cake with "Happy 20th Anniversary ACME" and took a few nice digital pictures. I built a one-page mini-site targeted for the best corporate keyword for cakes and within two weeks, she was number two on Jayde.com.
She now gets about ten orders per month from local businesses for cakes of all kinds - even employee birthdays. Her average order is for a full sheet cake at one-hundred-fifty dollars. But the real story here is the business she turns away. She does not want to bother with shipping cakes so she only does jobs that are local. For every job she accepts, she turns away two to three others. Can you imagine having so much work that you have to turn it away?
So how can you get to the top of Jayde.com? It's easier than you think if you build a laser targeted SEO mini site. Here's how...
Jayde.com's Secret Ranking Formula; Step By Step:
First, determine your most important keyword. The more exact (while still getting plenty of searches) the better. A three to four word keyword phrase is typically best as they are well targeted.
Second, buy the .com, .net, or .org version of that exact keyword as your domain name. You can have dashes between any of the words.
Third, get hosting from a dependable service provider that has strict policies against "inappropriate content." Getting hosted on a server alongside a pornographic site can hurt your rankings.
Fourth, design a one-page website that is targeted to that single keyword phrase used in your domain name. Use your META tags and ALT tags for your images. Specifically, use your Title, Keywords and Description tags on the back-end and two instances of ALT tags for alternate text with your graphics.
Fifth, create three hundred to five hundred words of search engine optimized text using your exact keyword phrase three times in the text, once more in the copyright or disclaimer and up to two times in bolded section heading text. (up to six times total for 450 to 500 words of on page text.)
Very Important Tips:
Finding the best keyword is the most important part. You can be number one for "really super yummy cakes" but since no one is searching for that keyword it will not do you any good. Try a free keyword tool to get the best keywords. Wordtracker.com offers a nice free tool - or you can run a search Google for "free keyword tool."
Do not get hung up on the domain name. A laser targeted SEO mini site is custom built for gaining search engine based business - not for branding. Jayde.com will see "thisismydomainname.com" the same as "this-is-my-domain-name.com." The same goes for Bing and Yahoo if you want to get listed there as well.
Text adds up quickly. The typical web disclaimer is 80 to 110 words in length. That said; if you go over on text, create some of your text as an image. The copyright and disclaimer sections are ideal for this.
Use Bold for headings instead of heading tags like H1 or H2.
If you have any JavaScript for forms, auto-responders, etc; place them in a position so the code is below all optimized text and tags. If possible, avoid JavaScript and Flash completely.
Take one instance of your keyword phrase and make it the anchor text of a circular link (a link that goes right back to the same page.)
Laser targeted SEO mini sites can bring in more business than you can imagine, and the above formula can be tweaked to work on Bing (MSN) and Yahoo as well as Jayde.com.
If you do nothing else with your online marketing this year, consider building one of these targeted SEO mini sites. The very targeted (eager for your products) traffic you receive from one is worth its weight in gold.
