Join Me On A Paphos Adventure

When people ask me where I will be enjoying my holidays this year they are often

surprised to hear that I will be jetting off to the mythical city of Pathos. This Cypriot city is definitely number one on my destination list, it may not have the commercial appeal of package holiday favourites such as the Costa del Sol however the city offers everything you need for an action packed break. If you are looking for something more than just the normal holiday experience, make sure that you discover just what Paphos holidays have to offer. You may find yourself on the seat next to me on the flight, just don't expect the window seat!

One of the first stops on any sightseeing tour of Paphos is the Pillar of Saint Paul; the Saint visited the city in 45 AD and converted the ruler of Paphos to Christianity. Although Paphos was eventually converted to Christianity, Saint Paul was tied to a large stone in the city centre and whipped. The Pillar of Saint Paul is one of the most popular monuments in Paphos, especially for pilgrims looking to explore one of the earliest Christian monuments.

Another attraction that brings the tourists to Paphos is the Temple of Aphrodite, one of the most important religious sites in the world. Paphos is closely connected to the goddess Aphrodite who is believed to have emerged from the sea on Aphrodite's Rock. The temple is situated among the Sanctuary of Aphrodite in Kouklia, located just outside of Paphos. Although the site is in ruins, thousands of tourists and pilgrims arrive to view the remains every year.

Monuments dedicated to the goddess are common all around the city of Paphos, ideal for those looking to learn more about Aphrodite and her life. The Baths of Aphrodite are a fantastic place to visit, situated close to one of the most beautiful coastal spots in Paphos. The area is one of Cyprus's best kept secrets and is full of natural beauty with hiking trails and glorious beaches.

I don't think that I will be the only one choosing Paphos as their holiday destination of choice this year, with thousands arriving during the winter months to escape the cold European weather. Although I do not want to be sharing the beaches and sightseeing tours with thousands of other eager tourists on my Paphos holiday, I would recommend packing your bags and experiencing this fantastic resort for yourself.
