, 1962 in Trenton, New Jersey) is a comedian, producer, actor and American author. It is known in the United States as the presenter of The Daily Show. Thanks to the popularity of the show, Stewart has won the reputation of "the most respectable names in the false information." Stewart has also attracted attention for its frank criticism of the news media established.
Stewart began his career as a comic stand-up shows then on television, with the Short Attention Span Theater for Comedy Central. He began his own show on MTV, The Jon Stewart Show, and has another show on MTV, You wrote it, You watch it. He has had numerous roles in various films. He began to participate in the Daily Show on Comedy Central in early 1999. He is also writer and co-producer for the show. After starting to participate in the Daily Show, the show is gaining popularity and he received an Emmy Award in 2001.
Stewart has won popularity for his satirical and acerbic critic of the Bush administration and various personalities from media, especially television channels CNN, Fox News and MSNBC. Many critics criticized him of practicing a double standard in criticizing television under the guise of "satirical". But Stewart admits himself, considering he has never discussed her program being anything other than satire and comedy. Jon Stewart was born Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz in New York in a Jewish family. He and his older brother grew up in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Her mother is a school counselor and his father, Donald Leibowitz, a professor of physics at the College of New Jersey, a public university in the State of New Jersey. His parents are divorced during her childhood.
Stewart studied at the College of William and Mary in Virginia, with psychology as a major subject, and was released in 1984 with a degree in psychology. In 2000, Stewart received an honorary doctorate of arts from the College of William and Mary. In 2004, Stewart gave a speech at the opening ceremony of the College of William and Mary, a speech which was broadcast over many times on television, he received an honorary Doctor of Arts. It was also the same year the keynote address at the opening ceremony of the academic year at Princeton University. In 2008, he has been a speaker at Hamilton College.
Besides his interest in football, he is also a big fan of baseball, his favorite team being the New York Mets. In 2000, he described himself as a socialist or independent.
