Just Say no

I want to look at Luke 4 verse 40 with you to see a side of Jesus that we probably dont think about often

. The Bible says,

When the sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness.

Do you know how this feels? Right when you are ready to crawl in between the sheets and call it a day is when your teen is suddenly ready to have a heart to heart talk. The same thing happens to Jesus here. The day is almost over, but it looks like its just about to begin again for Him,

And laying His hands on each one, He healed them.

Now, listen to this,

At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for Him, and when they came to where He was, they tried to keep Him from leaving them. But He said, I must preach the good news of the Kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent. And He kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.

Now, heres a side of Jesus we dont often think about. Did you notice that Jesus knew when to say No.

They tried to keep Him but He said, No, I cant. He stuck to His priorities even though the people begged.

For women, I believe that having our priorities out of order is one of our number one problems. We have trouble saying no. And we end up frazzled, over-extended, late, and not at our best. But, you can add peace and sanity to your life if you discipline yourself to say no to anything that will have your priorities out of the order God gave us:

1. God

2. Husband

3. Children

4. Home

Were telling teenagers today when it comes to drugs, Just say no. Not only is that a good mantra for drugs. Its good for women tempted to get their priorities out of order.

The next time youre tempted to over-commit, have the wisdom and courage to resist that temptation and just say no.
