Just Taking A Short Spin?

There may be some point in time where you will need to drive a car that does not belong to you

. No, we are not talking about thievery, but we are speaking of times when you might need to take a friend's car somewhere, or even driving their car while you are on holiday with them.

A common misconception is that you will not need car insurance because you are simply 'borrowing' the vehicle. Unfortunately this could not be further from the truth. No matter where you are, an no matter whose vehicle you happen to be driving, you will need insurance. But why? It's actually pretty simple believe it or not. The simple truth of the matter is that failing to have insurance is unfair to the other drivers on the road.

If you find yourself in a car accident, someone will have to pay for the damage. If you do not have car insurance, then you will be paying for the damage out of pocket. That might be fine with you, but what if you are involved in an accident with someone who does not have car insurance and cannot pay? If that is the case, then you will be stuck trying to fix the vehicle yourself. Sure, the other person will be punished and probably lose their license, but that doesn't help you right now does it?

That being said, insurance is very important, and getting back to the matter at hand, if you are given permission to temporarily drive someone's vehicle, there are a number of things that can happen. The person from which you are borrowing the vehicle could add you to their insurance policy, and that would be a viable solution, but that would cost them more money in the end, and they would of course have to take you off of their insurance policy when the time came.

The other solution you might try is short term insurance. It is precisely what it sounds like, and it is actually a great solution to a common problem. The common problem of course being that many people cannot find any suitable insurance for the short period they will be driving said vehicle. Well, it just so happens that there are plenty of different options for car insurance.

Along with the options, you also have the ability to be insured as soon as you can fill out the paperwork. It won't take much time, and soon enough you'll be on the road and ready to go! In addition to that, most short term insurance companies will allow you to add one or two more people to your policy for an extra fee. Yes, it will cost money, but ultimately it will be much cheaper than actually getting a full insurance policy. So with that being said, it's time to get out there and find the best policy. They're not hard to find, and best of all, they're much cheaper than anything else!
