Keeping Balanced With A Fitness Program

Everyone has a favorite exercise and it easy to focus on that one exercise

. Even if it is an effective exercise and you are getting results, you will probably get even better results by making sure your fitness program is balanced and varied. There are five types of exercises that should be included in a fitness program. They dont all have to be included each day, but they can be rotated individually or in groups (vary the combination).

1. Stretching-this should be part of the fitness program everyday that you work out to prevent injury. The advantages of stretching include increasing the range of motion of joints, warming up of muscles, and increased flexibility. Five to ten minutes of stretching is usually good. Vigorous walking and a variety of exercises can help stretch and warm up muscles. If walking is the exercise of choice, choose other exercises to warm up. Yoga is an exercise that stretches muscles and increases flexibility.

2. Aerobic-this type of exercise is also known as cardio exercise or endurance exercise. It is because this type of exercise is good for the heart function, lung capacity, and circulatory health. This type of exercising includes any exercise that gets your lungs working, uses large muscles, and gets your blood pumping. Aerobic exercise helps to get oxygen transported throughout the body. This exercise can vary from dancing to vacuuming to jogging to swimming.

3. Core Stability-core muscles are the muscles are the muscles in the pelvis, abdomen, and lower back. Core muscle strength is important to back health and keeping the upper and bottom body movements connected. These muscles help keep the spine braced also. These exercises should be done without support to the trunk of your body.


4. Muscular Fitness-bone strength and muscle fitness is improved with weight training, which should be included a couple times a week. Muscle mass can be maintained during weight loss with weight training. These exercises can be done using your own weight like when doing push-ups and leg squats. The exercises can also be done in the gym, with homemade weights, free weights, at home, and doing resistance training.

5. Balance Training-especially with older people, balance training is important to avoid injury from falls and tripping. Balance can be maintained with balance training. Exercises should be gradually increased as balance and stability improve.

Walking can be included in all fitness programs. Even when the fitness program includes more vigorous exercising, walking is a good way to mix things up and to use if feeling a little under the weather or recovering from an injury.
