Keeping pool decks looking like new can be done easily by resurfacing them when needed. Resurfacing pool decks will revitalize your entire backyard and pool area while also making it safer and much more attractive. Resurfacing is not only easy and inexpensive but something you can easily do yourself.

Before you even before the resurfacing process, you need to get your deck ready by cleaning it up and getting of stains, cracks and caked on debris. A power washer works great for this job. If you don't own a power wash, most hardware stores have them for rent.

A stiff-bristled brush and muriatic acid will work very effectively for getting rid of dried mineral deposits, suntan lotions and other stains. Mix the acid evenly with water, apply and let site for at least one minute, then scrub with the brush. You'll want to wear rubber gloves and be careful of the fumes. If your concrete deck has cracks, you'll want to smooth them out with a concrete grinder.

Fill any holes or uneven cracks with a flexible epoxy. When the deck is smooth, resurface it with an elastomeric pool surface coating. This can be applied with a brush as you'd apply paint. This coating is available in a variety of colors and will add years of life to your pool deck. One the project is completed, allow it plenty of time to dry before it sees traffic. You'll love the new appearance of your pool deck and so will your neighbors!
