In the past such movement were rare as people tended to stay where they were born, but now people take full advantage of their mobility and live their lives where they choose. In recent months, this has been further aided by low house prices which allow people to buy a house somewhere new and promptly start living there. Here are three things to consider before making a move.

The first thing you need to consider is jobs. This is a sad but true reality, especially in these tough economic times. The best case scenario is to have your existing company transfer you to your new location, and if you work for a larger organisation this is often possible. Alternatives to this are to look for similar jobs, or take this as an opportunity to start something new. Whatever you decide, be sure to plan it thoroughly, you don't want to make a move and find you can't get a job in your new home.

Next take a look at house prices; different markets vary considerably and though you might be able to afford a house in one location, you might be well over budget for a similar place somewhere else. The best way to do this is to do some research online and find out what average house prices are.

Finally, take a look at where your friends are. It's always far easier to move somewhere new if you already know a few people who live there. A few friends will introduce you to others and greatly smooth your transition to your new life. If you follow these three tips you should have no problem moving to a brand new, exciting destination.
