Kindle Fire: 3 Months Old, 33% Tablet Traffic Hold

Kindle Fire has been in news ever since it was announced

. It was seen as a tablet with a real potential to change the entire table space. Till now, it is living up to the expectations. We did an iPad 2 vs Kindle Fire Comparison post back in December, and last month we did a post explaining that Kindle Fire is eating share of Galaxy Tab, and not iPad 2 and some of our predictions are coming true.

Amazon Kindle Fire was launched in mid November 2011, it is only around 3 months old, and we are already seeing an exponential growth of Amazon Kindle Fire in tablet space. Latest report from Jumptab, mobile ad network and the leader in targeted mobile advertising, have many interesting figures to share.

According to Jumptab, Android and iOS together make up 91 percent of the mobile OS market. Based on data from the Jumptap network of more than 95 million monthly users, both operating systems reached new heights in January; Android hit 58.8 percent and iOS reached 32.2 percent market share respectively. On the other hand, once dominant players, like RIM and Symbian are seeing a great fall. RIM touched a new record low of 6.7 percent share of impressions, while Symbian accounted for 1.4 percent of impressions, and Windows Mobile for even less: 0.5 percent.

Though, the most interesting finding is related to tablets, Amazon Kindle Fire in particular is proving to be a dark horse. Jumptab network has seen over 50 percent increase in tablet traffic, since December. The launch of the Kindle Fire has helped fuel exponential tablet growth in the last few months. The Kindle Fire has grown from holding a 4 percent share of tablet traffic to a 33 percent share in just 3 months. These figures are just amazing. Jumptab is also predicting 2012 to be a year of heavy competition between the iPad3, the Kindle Fire, and other low-cost tablets.
