The much talked about Youth Mobility Scheme of the United Kingdom has replaced the old Working Holiday Visa program

. This is being run on reciprocal bilateral agreements with Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Monaco. British overseasterritories citizens, or British nationals (overseas), are also eligible to apply for this visa.

If you have already spent time on the British soil on basis of the old program, you are not eligible for this scheme. Most of the conditions of this visa are similar to the older visa regime under the tier 5, but surely the list of participating countries has shrunk.

This is primarily aimed at providing opportunity to the youth of Great Britain to get a similar chance to explore other nations under the Youth exchange programs in reciprocation to permitting the young people of the participating nations to visit Britain.

Mobility Visa For youth is an opportunity for the young people, between the age group 18 years and 30 years, from the participating nations, to come and live in the UK and get a taste of its lifestyle, environment and culture.

You can do a business but are not allowed to own the business premises, besides the pre-condition that the gross worth of the equipment in use in your business must not be more than 5000. This business should not employ any people either.

You could however:

* Take up a study course that is financed from your own resources

* Take up part time domestic jobs and part time study course and live as a part of the family

* Participate in any legal voluntary work.

However, you are not eligible for state benefits under the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa. Your application is assessed on the point based system. To get this visa, you would need to demonstrate your ability to survive in country during the period of stay, and must possess equivalent of 1600 in your local currency.
