Most of the diamonds are colorless and colorless diamonds are rare and highly priced. The color is affected by its impurities and defects in the crystal lattice. Mostly diamonds are graded by its colors such as D E F grade represent colorless, GI J H are nearly colorless, K L M N represents faint yellow, N O P Q R represents very light yellow and S-Z represents light yellow. Most people buy a diamond with the best color grade and it occurs in different colors and it contains impurities that cause the coloration.

The other factors that determine diamond characteristics are shape and its certification, and diamond is available in different shapes.
