Know The Real Cost Of A Divorce So You Don't Go Broke
If you hire a divorce lawyer today there is a good chance that you will hire a bankruptcy
lawyer within 2-3 years IF you allow yourself to get caught up in the divorce racket.
Heed this warning now and ACT on what I am about to teach you so that you keep more money in YOUR pocket.
Before I get into the "how to and the to do's" I need to talk about the various costs associated with a divorce so that you understand the real impact of them. Not knowing what you could be facing could end up costing you thousands more. Don't depend on your divorce attorney for all of this information because that is not in "their" best interest.
As I said earlier the cost of a contested divorce can be significant when you add it all up. It is not uncommon for it to be anywhere from a low-end of $53,000 to a high-end of $188,000 and this is just the average!
Often times when you ask someone how much their divorce cost them they only focus on the attorney's fees. They somehow forget or ignore the all the various costs of a divorce. You are going to know in advance what you are up against and use that information to "fire your wife" and move forward with a win-win settlement.
IF you use the strategies that I will be laying out for you in this article, you'll potentially save thousands of dollars just like I did.
So let's break down the most common of these costs so that you may be better prepared during this emotionally charged time. Having an idea about what your costs could be will help you to gain clarity about your finances. That clarity will help you create a fair and equitable settlement or determine if a settlement offer by your wife is.
Keep in mind that this is a business transaction and you must have all of the details in front of you so that you can make a wise and informed decision. Anything short of that is guessing and this is no time to guess. You must have this information analyzed by a CDFA(TM) to determine what your financial future will look like net after taxes.
Here is a money saving tip: the dysfunctional divorce system will require that you fill out a financial affidavit. Meet first with a CDFA(TM) after you go online and download one for your state and fill it out. The CDFA(TM) will use that information to create a fair and equitable settlement for you. This could save you thousands in legal fees!
Here are some of the fees you may be dealing with during and after your divorce:
1.) Divorce attorney's fees and court costs vary depending on whom you hire of course and what they will be doing for you.
2.) Certified Divorce Financial Analyst(TM) fees vary depending on your situation.
3.) Family Therapist may be needed for yourself and/or your children.
4.) Real Estate appraisal fees may be spent to have your real estate appraised if you can't agree on the value.
5.) Forensic accountant fees.
6.) Vocational expert fees.
7.) Real estate fees.
8.) Business Valuation fees.
9.) Actuarial fees. If you have a pension plan (defined benefit plan) you will need to have it valued because it is worth something.
The above are some of the out of pocket costs associated with a divorce and I didn't give you any dollar amounts because they vary so much. But here is a cost that most people forget and it is huge. It is called opportunity costs.
What do I mean? When you are going to the attorney's office or compiling financial information and just dealing with your divorce are you making money? Of course not! It is costing you time whereby you could be making money. That can add up to a significant amount.
For example, let's say you earn $200 per hour and you "spend" 50 hours on your divorce case (that is very modest) you just lost out on $10,000 that you could have earned.
Wealthy people understand and use leverage and do so by hiring experts to do those things that they are not good at or know very little about. Follow their lead and do the same and become the CEO of your divorce and have a Divorce Blueprint (divorce financial plan) created for you so that you optimize your time, which is your most valuable asset.
