Knowing About Different Types Of Televisions
Choosing the best high def television for a Christmas gift or some other special day can be a fun process
. The trick is to do some research before making the decision, this way you feel confident as you shop instead of going out there unaware and being overwhelmed.
There are three main types of televisions on the market; Plasma, LCD and DLP. All three types have their own benefits and drawbacks; it just depends on what fits your needs more. Gone are the days that the only real question you need to ask yourself is how big do you want the screen. Even then, the options were somewhat limited unless you were going for a big screen projection television. It wasn't so long ago that you even had to ask whether or not you wanted to go color or stay with black and white.
Things have really changed and watching television and enjoying movies at home is a totally different experience than it was just a few years ago. Almost anyone can have a home theater that makes watching movies at home almost as fun as going to the movies, sometimes even better because you don't have crying kids and teenagers talking on cell phones.
But there are some guidelines that will make picking out the perfect television easier. First you have to decide which kind to get. Plasma, LCD or DLP? The plasma offers a great looking picture with a deeper black background and more extremely vibrant colors than the other two. They work well in darker rooms without direct sunlight and are available in many sizes. LCD televisions work well in lighted rooms with direct sunlight and offer a greater range of sizes. The technology behind the two is complicated, but they both produce high definition picture quality.
DLP is a little different in that it uses a different technology, tiny reflective mirrors instead of liquid crystals or gases. The DLP picture is just as good and offers a high definition picture at a more reasonable price. But what you gain in cost savings, you lose in size. The DLP televisions are larger and bulkier than the other two televisions. So hanging the DLP on the wall is not an option, it must sit on the floor or on a stand. Whichever television you decide on, the picture quality is nearly identical in HD terms.
