Rugby is one of the growing sports in the United States and has started to gain the attention of several colleges and universities

. It is generally believed that the game originated at the Rugby School in England during the early 1800s and was able to make its debut in the United States decades after that. During the turn of the century however, fascination with the game started to decline in favor of American Football, a variant of Rugby developed in the United States. It was only in 1960 that interest in the game was rekindled and since then, Rugby again became an increasingly popular sport played in many schools across the country.

The rules of Rugby are pretty straightforward and easy to understand. Game time is normally split into two 40-minute halves which are then bordered by a 15-minute break called a half-time. Just like its offspring American football, the main objective of the game of Rugby is to carry the ball past the goal post which is located at the end of the opponents side of the field. Unlike American football, however, the Rugby player should ground the ball in order for him to score.

Since both games can be described as somewhat a contact sport, you can expect a lot of bodies intentionally bumping the player who carries the ball in order to derail him from reaching the goal. It is just a little bit different with Rugby though where players, when tackled, can release the ball so that his teammate may pick it up and continues on. During substitutions and injuries, the clock is stopped so that referees do not have to add stoppage time just like in Football.

While you may expect to see some entertainment during half-time in American Football, most Rugby game events do not have such but instead, utilize the time to hold kicking competitions which oftentimes involve crowd members, or have some youth rugby teams come in to play a quick tournament. This is possibly one of the reasons why rugby Denver Colorado has is quite popular among the locals. In fact, spectators do not expect to be entertained by mascots and cheerleaders during half-time, but instead look forward to being able to participate in competitions held during the breather.

While it is true that American football remains to be one of the most popular sports across the nation, it appears that Rugby is trying to catch up. With teams like those which comprise the Glendale rugby league, the future of the sport looks very bright indeed.
