The reason it is important to hear what they say during their Santa calls is that they might ask him for one thing and you for another, which leads us into this list of gifts not to buy for people. There is nothing more embarrassing than buying the wrong gift for wrong person. Christmas time is a very stressful time, especially if you are the type of person that buys a gift for almost everyone you know, even those whom you only see once a year or that live miles away in another part of the country. It is just too easy to get mixed up. It is even possible to offend people with the wrong Christmas gift. Here are a few gifts that you would want to avoid. While your intentions might be good, you could wind up making an enemy for life.

If you wrap your presents and then forget to label them, never assume you can guess which ones are which and go to whom. It could lead to an embarrassing moment on Christmas morning. A good for instance of this is if you were to purchase a gift for your uncle and mix the package up with the one you send to your grandmother who lives hundreds of miles away. It would be awkward when Uncle Harry opens his gift to find a flower print flannel nightgown while poor, bedridden granny who is on oxygen is at home opening her gift, a carton of cigarettes. This would send a message to granny that you wish she would hurry up and meet her maker. It is especially bad if you accidentally catch Uncle Harry wearing the nightie.

How do you think everyone would feel if you sent your cousin in jail a nice framed picture of an embroidered message that read "Home Sweet Home" and gave your mother-in-law a pack of men's underwear with a note that says you hope she comes out soon? A switch like this could be devastating to both parties involved.

Giving your over weight husband a bib that reads "Big Baby" and your three year old son a chain saw would also send mixed messages.

Giving your gay brother a fruit basket and your fourteen-year-old sister a pair of tight leather pants with the butt cheeks cut out would also send mixed messages, especially if she did not notice and modeled them for everyone at the family Christmas dinner.

Many people include their pets when the do their Christmas shopping. This is usually something that the family dog would enjoy. Giving a big ham bone to your husband's Jewish grandfather would be pretty bad and I do not think the dog would actually wear the old spice.

Never accidentally send a big box of chocolates to the friend in the weight watcher's program while sending your other friend, a recovering alcoholic, a bottle of twelve-year-old scotch. You could actually end two programs in one felled swoop. Especially if you include a note on the chocolates that says, "Every time you eat one of these, think of me!" and a note on the booze that says, "Have one on me!"

Finally, the one gift you should never ever mix up is to send a subscription of "The "Catholics Monthly" magazine to your Baptist neighbor son who cuts your grass and a subscription of "Boys Life" magazine to your parish priest.
