This will give you a realistic idea of what you can potentially accomplish in your yard. It is also a great idea to try and find recycled materials to use in your landscape. Some people give away dirt, bricks, gravel, and plants for free or for little cost. You can find ads for these types of materials on Craigslist.

Lastly, look through home and garden magazines or websites for tips and ideas about landscaping projects. This can be particularly helpful when it comes to hardscape elements. There may be some landscape features that you have never thought to use in you yard. You can also find elements that you can add to empty or visually unappealing parts of your landscape.
